Away Travel - General advice

If travelling by public transport, for most journeys, it is advisable to book well in advance in order to get the best fares. Train tickets can generally be booked about 12 weeks in advance, however from experience, the best time to book is about 8 or 9 weeks in advance. Advance fares are generally only usable on the service you specify at the time of booking, so missing a train could be very costly. For journeys wholly within the Network SouthEast area, often the cheapest journey is the standard day return, which can be bought on the day - this would be the case for such trips as Reading or London to Twickenham, Watford, Wycombe and Worcester (yes, according to Network rail, Worcester is in the South-East). Also within this area, for those who are not entitled to buy one of the national railcards, there is the Network railcard.
National Express coaches can be booked further in advance, however it is advisable not to book until the TV schedules are known.

The information contained in this section is obtained from the Train Operators’ websites and National Express website. Information is given as a guide to help supporters when planning their journeys. Example fares are adult fares advertised at the time of writing. Engineering work often affects weekend rail travel, as such it is advisable to re-check plans a couple of weeks before travelling.
Please be aware the dates and times of matches are subject to change - particularly if the TV schedules have not been announced.

We aim to add travel advice for each away match around 8 to 10 weeks prior to the match.

Pub to Match Travel

London Irish pubs logo#Launched on 1st January, London Irish now has its own network of nearly 30 Official London Irish Pubs spread throughout Reading and the surrounding area, with more being added all the time – look for the Official Pub logo.

As well as providing a great place for London Irish (and all rugby) supporters to meet up before and after each match, each Official Pub sells tickets to most home matches directly from the bar, and for those pubs outside of town, also offers the Pub to Match service – a minibus transport service taking supporters from their Official Pub to Madejski and returning them to their pub after the match. Pub to Match is available as a transport-only service (ideal for Season Ticket holders) and a combined match ticket/transport package for other supporters.

Supporters Coaches

For the 2011/12 season, London Irish Pubs are planning to run supporters coaches to Premiership and European away matches, details can be found on the London Irish Pubs website - also check the website for more information about the Official London Irish Pubs and the Pub to Match service.

Away Tickets

Tickets for away matches usually go on sale approximately 5 or 6 weeks prior to the match – details will be announced on the Away Tickets page of the London Irish Official Website. Tickets generally remain on sale until about 10 days prior to the match. Note: Tickets are not available through LISC.
